62-year-old man injured in drive-by shooting near ice cream parlor in southeast Atlanta, police say

ATLANTA, Georgia (Atlanta News First) – Police say a 62-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting near an ice cream parlor in southeast Atlanta Sunday morning.

Atlanta police said they responded to a call about a person being shot around 7 a.m. at 1518 Jonesboro Road SE, the address of Rio's Italian Ice & Ice Cream.

Officers said they found a 62-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back. The victim was awake, conscious and breathing and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to preliminary police investigations, the man was outside the store when he was shot at from a moving vehicle. The suspect(s) left the store before police arrived.

Investigators are trying to determine what led to the shooting.
