Authorities in upstate New York have arrested a border patrol agent for allegedly forcing several women to expose their breasts during virtual immigration checks into the United States.

Shane Millan, 53, was arraigned in Syracuse on Thursday on charges of violating women's constitutional right to protection from unreasonable searches. He is charged with four misdemeanors, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Northern District of New York.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York said that on three separate occasions, Millan ordered women seeking to enter the United States to undress and expose their bare breasts on a webcam, while on a fourth occasion the women kept their bras on. Each time, Millan allegedly lied to the women that the undressing was part of the protocol.

“Millan's demand to see the victims' breasts was for his own personal satisfaction,” the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

The border patrol agent committed the crimes in Jefferson County near the Canadian border and “elsewhere,” according to the indictment.

Millan's attorney and U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but in a statement to CNN, CBP said the agency does not tolerate misconduct within its ranks.

“When we discover suspected or potential misconduct, we immediately refer it for investigation and cooperate fully with any criminal or administrative investigation,” CBP said.

According to court records, a jury trial is scheduled for October 21.
