Trial against Nadine Arslanian Menendez: Conference scheduled

A preliminary hearing in the bribery and corruption case against Nadine Arslanian Menendez has been scheduled for December, the first step after the trial was previously postponed due to her breast cancer diagnosis.

Arslanian Menendez, the wife of Senator Bob Menendez, was charged – along with her husband and three New Jersey businessmen, Wael Hana, Fred Daibes and Jose Uribe – with participating in a bribery scheme in which Menendez and his wife allegedly received cash, gold bars and a luxury car, among other things, in exchange for using their political influence.

Menendez was found guilty on 16 counts in his own federal trial and requested acquittal and a retrial.

Arslanian Menendez is charged with 15 of the 18 counts of her co-defendants, all of whom were found guilty after a nine-week trial. She was originally scheduled to be tried alongside her co-defendants, although she had requested that the trials be separated. They were ultimately separated due to Arslanian Menendez's diagnosis.

There is no set trial date yet for Arslanian Menendez, but Southern District of New York Judge Sidney Stein has ordered everyone to keep the January and February 2025 trial dates free.
