Rams release Ochaun Mathis and 11 other players in first wave of layoffs

The Los Angeles Rams' roster cuts have officially begun. On Sunday, the team released 12 players in order to reach the 53-man limit by the deadline on Tuesday.

The first 12 players cut included 2023 sixth-round pick Ochaun Mathis, fourth-string quarterback Dresser Winn and veteran defensive tackle Carlos Watkins. None of the names are particularly surprising, but the Rams still have a long way to go before they reach the 53-player maximum.

Olakunle Fatukasi, JJ Laap, Blake Larsen, Alec Lindstrom, Cameron McCutcheon, Grant Miller, SaRodorick Thompson and Matt Kaskey were also among the players released on Sunday. It was previously reported that Boston Scott was also released.
