One person left with life-threatening injuries after shooting in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (WKYT) – One person suffered life-threatening injuries following a shooting in Lexington Sunday afternoon.

Lexington police told WKYT they received several calls reporting shots fired in the Valley Park area in the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive around 4:45 p.m.

Officers said when they arrived at the scene, three people were running from the park. They said they were able to arrest one of the suspects, but the other two eluded officers.

After the shooting, Lexington police were stationed along Westland Drive and Duncan Machinery Drive, near Old Frankfort Pike and New Circle Road.

Lexington police said they found no other evidence at the scene, but believe it was an isolated incident and there was no public threat.

According to police, a man in his late teens was taken to a local hospital shortly after the shooting. The number of gunshot wounds found on the victim could not be confirmed, but it was said his injuries were life-threatening.
