Trelawny men arrested for capital crimes, rape and ‘much more’

Investigators from the Trelawny Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have arrested three men and charged them with a number of offences, including the murder of 15-year-old schoolgirl Jamelia Cole in connection with an incident on Cotton Tree Lane in Albert Town in the parish on August 6, 2023.

The following are charged with membership in a criminal organization, conspiracy to commit burglary, aiding and abetting burglary, capital crime, intentional bodily harm, serious bodily harm for the purpose of murder, intentional burglary and rape:

  • 23-year-old Timoy Brown, also known as “Big Red,” a farmer from the Cotton Tree district.
  • 22-year-old Tyrese Brown, also known as ‘Sheets Man’, from Albert Town, Trelawny.
  • 20-year-old Jabean Brock, also known as “Nuko”, a worker from the district of Szczecin, Trelawny.

According to police reports, on the above-mentioned day, all three men allegedly gained access through a kitchen window to a residential building where four women lived.

Three of the women were subsequently hit on the head with a blunt object, causing them to lose consciousness.

During the incident, a nine-year-old girl woke up from her sleep and contacted her father, who gave her instructions.

The child went to the neighbors, who alerted the police.

When police arrived, three women were seen lying in the house with head injuries, and now-deceased teenager Jamelia Cole was seen naked and with her hands bound a few feet from the house.

All the women were taken to the hospital, where Jamelia was pronounced dead and the others were treated and discharged.

The men were subsequently arrested in separate incidents. Tyrese Brown was intercepted by police in a stolen car on Monday, August 19, and remains in custody.

The other men were picked up in their communities.

Following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their lawyers on Saturday, August 24, they were jointly charged.

A court date for her is currently being scheduled.
