This micro SUV from Mahindra will most likely be called KUV100 and not CUV100 or XUV100 as the official logo of the company is KUV100. This time, Mahindra senior executives were very tight-lipped about the name of this new micro SUV.

Mahindra plans to launch the KUV100 later this year. This will be the company's next big product. The KUV100 is a new monocoque chassis and will be powered by either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.2-litre diesel engine. The KUV100's engines were recently jointly developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong.

An AMT (automated manual transmission) will also be available as an option.

Mahindra will badge it as 100 as it will be smaller than the TUV300.

This product is aimed at first-time car buyers and the Indian automaker is looking to increase its market share in the SUV and compact crossover segment with its range of upcoming products.

The Mahindra KUV100 is a five-seater aimed at first-time buyers. It is a direct competitor to the i20 Active and has similar dimensions. Mahindra has not had a strong presence in the UV1 segment and will now offer the TUV300, the KUV100 and soon the Quanto facelift.
