59-year-old shot dead, another arrested after incident of aggression while driving in Halifax County: VSP

One man was shot and another was arrested following what police described as a “violent road user” incident in Halifax County on Friday.

According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), the shooting occurred around 9:26 p.m. on Route 58. Police said the shooting was the result of an altercation between people in two vehicles in the city of South Boston.

As the altercation continued on Route 58, a 59-year-old victim realized he had been shot and was taken to a Roanoke hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to VSP, a description of the suspect vehicle was provided – a Dodge Durango – and the driver was taken into custody by Danville police.

Police said additional charges would be filed after consultation with the Halifax County District Attorney.
