16-year-old arrested for patricide | Latest News Delhi

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly killing his 55-year-old father with a plastic pipe in Aman Vihar on Sunday morning when he tried to stop his drunken father from assaulting his mother, police said.

A senior police official said they were informed about the incident, which occurred at Ramesh Enclave around 11 am.

“He was immediately taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead,” said the official, who wished to remain anonymous.

The official said that the man, a laborer, used to beat his wife and children over trivial matters when he was drunk. On Sunday morning, according to police, the deceased started a fight with his wife, in which his 16-year-old son intervened and hit his father's head with a plastic pipe, causing his death.

A case under sections 103(1) (punishment for murder) and 3(4) (common intention) of the BNS has been registered at Aman Vihar police station. “The minor was arrested from near his residence. Further investigation is on,” the officer said.
