According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, deputies and paramedics responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 7400 block of State Route 4 in Jefferson Township shortly after 8:15 p.m.

Paramedics took two women to hospital, where one succumbed to her injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2014 Mercedes CLA 250 was traveling northbound on State Route 4 when it veered left off center and collided with a tan 2012 Cadillac SRX traveling southbound on SR-4.

Alcohol or drugs are considered possible causes of the accident, the sheriff's office said.

The Miami Valley Fire District provided mutual aid and posted a photo on social media.

This suggests that one of the vehicles suffered severe damage to the front.

The crash remains under investigation.
