There are three types of markers on the map:

  • Small orange markers indicate confirmed shooting reports in which no one was injured
  • Large black markers indicate shootings in which someone was injured
  • Large red markings indicate fatal shots

If police are unable to locate a victim, they will generally confirm a report of a shooting if they find other evidence at the scene, such as bullet casings or property damage.
