14-year-old charged with murder after allegedly killing his father

Forrest County, Mississippi-A 14-year-old was arrested in Forrest County after allegedly shooting his father. Taurence Everett was arrested Tuesday after a shooting on Scenic Drive in the Glendale community.

Thomas Everett was identified as the deceased and according to previous reports, he was shot twice. The 14-year-old was arrested at another home just a mile away and charged as an adult with first-degree murder.

Taurence Everett had his first court appearance on Thursday, where a judge set his bail at $250,000. He is currently in the Forrest County Jail and will have to wear an ankle monitor if he is ever released on bail. He has also been banned from contacting the victim's family and must undergo a psychiatric evaluation once a month.
