Belton Business Park gets a new entrance as city-wide growth continues

BELTON, Texas (KWTX) – Avenue D will be extended to create a new entrance to the Belton Business Park, reducing traffic. Construction will coincide with a TxDOT project to widen Loop 121.

A $2.4 million bid from Gate & Cade Construction to widen Avenue D was approved by the Belton City Council in July 2024. The Belton Economic Corporation will fund the project with revenue from a sales tax.

The project includes infrastructure improvements for further developments that may take place in the park.

A traffic impact analysis of Belton Business Park found that the area is a high traffic volume area.

Belton Economic Corporation Executive Director Cynthia Hernandez said TxDOT's project to widen Loop 121 and add a traffic light motivated the BEC board to approve the Avenue D extension.

“The timing of this project is important because we wanted the road to be completed when TXDOT completed the Loop 121 project,” Hernandez said.

The project envisages an extension of Avenue D to the intersection with Kennedy Court.

Hernandez said the traffic reduction from the new entrance would benefit businesses and residents around Belton Business Park.

“It's about just getting from point A to point B. It's about just getting to work or to your destination within the business park,” Hernandez said.

Construction began in August 2024 and the project is scheduled for completion in early 2025.
