Details of funeral of Texas icon “Pop” released by Pop Watch

Last week we received the heartbreaking news that “Pop,” the iconic East Texas grandpa on Pop Watch's social media channels, had passed away. We're talking about a man who made people laugh and smile during difficult times. He was hilarious, had so many witty sayings, and was a grandfather figure to millions around the world.

His pragmatic attitude and endearing antics helped Pop Watch garner millions of likes and followers across multiple platforms. After just a few videos, his audience knew that Pop loved Dr Pepper and “big butts.” But his jokes were always meant for laughs, and kept his audience coming back for more.

Millions of people would like to pay their respects to Joe Mack Roy, better known as Pop, but getting to Longview, Texas on short notice would be difficult and in some cases likely expensive. But Jason Roy, Pop's grandson and the creative mind behind the videos featuring Pop, wanted to share the funeral details with fans. It's remarkable how open and loving the Roy family is, because they easily could have made this a private ceremony.

Funeral details for Pop

A wake will be held prior to the funeral on Wednesday, August 28th.th at Elmire Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3501 Elmira Drive in Longview. Burial will follow. The family will hold a private memorial service following the funeral.
