The main accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata revealed details of his timeline on the night he committed the crime. During interrogation, he gave details of his movements to the Central Bureau of Investigation, India Today reported.

Sanjay Roy, the main accused, told the agency that he visited two red-light areas in the city but did not have sex. He also confessed to harassing a woman on the street and asking for nude photos of his girlfriend.

Roy was arrested by police on August 9 for the rape and murder of a graduate medical student in a seminar room at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Here is his account of events on the night he committed the alleged crime.

  • On August 8, Roy went to RG Kar Hospital with a friend to enquire about the friend's brother who was admitted there.
  • At 11:15 p.m., the defendant and his friend left the hospital and purchased alcohol. The two consumed alcohol on the street.
  • Afterwards, both men decided to visit Sonagachi, a red-light district in the north of Kolkata.
  • Since their search in Sonagachi was unsuccessful, Roy and his friend travelled to Chetla and harassed a girl on the road.
  • His friend had sex with a woman in Chetla, a red-light district in south Kolkata, while Roy stood outside and talked to his girlfriend on video call. He asked his girlfriend for her nude photos, which she sent him.
  • Both returned to the hospital and Roy went to the trauma center on the fourth floor.

According to the India Today report, the presence of Roy and his friend at all the mentioned locations was established through call detail records (CDRs).

It was also reported that a significant amount of pornographic content, including incest videos, was found on the accused's mobile phone. Roy was subjected to a lie detector test on Sunday as part of the investigation into the incident.

Former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh and another person will be subjected to a polygraph test on Monday, ANI reported, citing sources within the CBI. Ghosh's voice test, which is also part of the polygraph test, was conducted on Sunday.
