All residents were outside while police investigated what led to the shooting on Sunday evening.

“Our officers responded to the area of 7th and Harrison Street because gunshots were heard. Our officers responded to the shooting victim,” said Kajahna Futch of the Berkeley Police Department.

This is Berkeley's fourth murder this year.

According to statements from residents who did not want to appear on camera, the deceased man was shot in his room.

Now the search for the shooter begins.

Berkeley police have not yet arrested anyone and have not been able to provide much information about a possible suspect.

“At this time we do not have a suspect in custody, so the suspect fled the scene,” Futch said.
