Crime in Houston, Texas: Man shot before pool party

HOUSTON – A 20-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday night just feet from a pool party at a northeast Houston apartment building, police said.

This happened on Orville Street near Homestead Road shortly after 11 p.m.

According to Houston police, officers arrived at the scene after partygoers said they heard the gunshots. Some partygoers found the man lying on the ground and attempted to resuscitate him until emergency responders arrived.

“There were several people at the party, but none of the partygoers knew him or admitted to knowing him,” said HPD Lt. JP Horelica.

HPD said the victim was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
