West Wing star Bradley Whitford's comments about Cheryl Hines and RFK Jr. go viral

The Josh Lyman actor spoke out against the couple on X (formerly Twitter) after RFK Jr. dropped out of the presidential race last week.

The 64-year-old called for the Curb your enthusiasm The 58-year-old actress was criticized for “remaining silent” as her 70-year-old husband supported former President Donald Trump in his bid for re-election.

In Saturday's post to his 483,000 followers, he branded RFK's son a “madman” and Trump a “convicted rapist.”

Whitford's comment was in response to a post from Kamala Headquarters the day before that read: “Trump: For 52 years, since the beginning Roe v. Wadepeople wanted to get it out. Many presidents have tried and have not been able to. I want to thank the judges who roe.”

He shared it, writing: “Hey @CherylHines so you stay silent while your crazy husband supports the convicted rapist who brags about robbing women of their basic rights.

“Brave. A great role model for the children. Profile in courage.”

Since then, it has been viewed 2.4 million times, with 33,000 likes, 6,000 shares and 4,000 comments.

Newsweek contacted representatives for Bradley Whitford, Cheryl Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. via email on Monday for comment.

Trump has faced a number of allegations of sexual misconduct over the years, and in 2023 a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing columnist Elizabeth Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s.

Meanwhile, Hines spoke out shortly after RFK Jr., whom she married in 2014, dropped out of the presidential race, saying: The Hollywood Reporter: “I have deep respect for Bobby’s decision to run on the basis of the unity principle.

“Over the last year and a half, I have met extraordinary people from all parties – Democrats, Republicans and independents.

“In my experience, the vast majority of all parties are made up of genuinely good people who want the best for our country and for each other. It has been an eye-opening, transformative and loving journey.”

Hines had previously criticized Trump, once calling his comments about the wife of his then rival Ted Cruz “disrespectful.”

She told the above publication: “But these politicians are made of Teflon. I've never seen anyone like them. I think back to Trump. Remember in the early days of Trump, when he insulted Ted Cruz's wife because of her looks?

“It's so ridiculous and disrespectful that he would say something disrespectful about Ted Cruz's wife. She had nothing to do with any of this. And I'm sure Ted Cruz will never forget that.”
