Richardson police shot man responding to alleged domestic violence incident

A press release said Richardson police shot and killed a man armed with a knife during an operation to investigate a suspected domestic violence incident early Sunday morning.

At approximately 4:11 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic violence incident in the 1500 block of Fair Oaks Drive. A woman reported she had been attacked by her boyfriend, who was armed with a gun.

The first officer on the scene found the man in the garage with a knife, the release said. The man ignored the officer's request to drop the knife and instead exited the garage and walked across the back yard toward the officer. He approached a pickup truck, reached inside, then turned toward the officer, who pointed the knife at them, the release said.
