Chiefs receive positive news about Marquise Brown's injury right after preseason

The Chiefs received some good injury news on Monday, as WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown participated in practice for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury in the first preseason game.

Kansas City's wide receivers are suddenly back in form after the surprise reunion of JuJu Smith-Schuster on Monday morning. Brown did not participate in practice, just watching from the sidelines, but it's still a big step in the right direction for one of the team's biggest playmakers.

He probably won't play for at least the first week of the regular season, possibly longer, but his participation in practice is still a welcome sign.

With roster cut day approaching on Tuesday and numerous players likely to leave the team, Brown's status remains one of the biggest question marks.

Now that Smith-Schuster is back, guys like Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Justyn Ross and Nikko Remigio are potential candidates for roster cuts. There were rumors that Brown could play on the injured list at the start of the 2024 season, creating an extra roster spot, but Monday's revelation suggests that's unlikely to happen.

Instead, Brown hopes to make his Chiefs debut in either Week 2 against the Bengals or Week 3 against the Falcons. Should he suffer a setback, a Week 4 divisional game against the newly formed Chargers remains a possibility.

Whatever the case, Brown appears to be on the way back. He has battled injuries throughout his career, but only reached 1,000 yards two years ago with the Ravens. Since he's only on a one-year deal, Brown hopes to prove his worth and earn a big payday in the offseason.

We hope that Monday's news is a sign of positive developments to come.
