REPORTS

Attack on the police, 2024-08230114, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. On August 23 at approximately 2:59 p.m., Loss Prevention personnel stopped an officer who had called a separate dispatch to report a robbery that had just occurred. It was observed that the male suspect entered the store, allegedly began to hide merchandise and left the store without paying. When confronted by Loss Prevention personnel outside the store, the suspect made threats, gestured at a weapon and fled the scene on foot. An officer responding to the call located the suspect in the Pentagon City Metro and ordered him to stop, which he ignored. The suspect continued to disobey as the officer and Loss Prevention personnel attempted to detain him, shoving the officer in the process. With the assistance of another officer responding to the call, the suspect was taken into custody. Loss prevention workers and the two officers sustained minor injuries. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided officers with false personal identification information. Carlos Brummitt, 33, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with assault on police, robbery, identity theft, and obstruction of justice. He was held without bail.

LOOK, 2024-08230025, 4300 block of 2nd Road N. On August 23rd at approximately 5:44 a.m., police were called to a report of peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female victim was inside her residence when she observed the male suspect allegedly looking into a window of her home. The victim called police and officers who responded found a person matching the suspect's description in the area and took them into custody. Denis Chen De Leon, 19, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with peeping and public intoxication.

MALICIOUS INJURY, 2024-08250014, 4100 block of 3rd N. Street. On August 25th at approximately 12:48 a.m., police were called to a report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male victim was walking in the area when the male suspect approached him and demanded his personal belongings. When the victim refused, the suspect pulled out a knife and attacked the victim with it, resulting in a cut. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. Officers responding to the scene searched the area for the suspect, but were unsuccessful. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and refused medical attention. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 35-40 years of age with dark hair. The investigation is ongoing.

attempted burglary, 2024-08260021, 300 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 26, police were called at approximately 3:12 a.m. to a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female victim was inside her residence when she heard a noise and upon further investigation, observed two male suspects, one of whom was known to her, attempting to enter the home. The suspects subsequently fled the scene before police arrived. Suspect One is described as a black male, approximately 6'1″ tall and dressed in a colorful robe. Suspect Two is described as a black male dressed in all black. The investigation is ongoing.

ROCKET INTO OCCUPIED APARTMENT, 2024-08250195, 2100 block of Key Boulevard. On August 25, police were called to a report of property damage at approximately 10 p.m. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a rock had been thrown at the window of the victim's residence, causing it to break. The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was preceded by an argument between the victim and a known individual. The investigation is ongoing.

Attempted break-in (later) 2024-08220204, 800 block of S. Frederick Street. On August 22, police were called to a burglary report at approximately 6:52 p.m. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspect(s) attempted to force entry into the victim's residence between 12:00 p.m. on August 20 and 6:30 p.m. on August 22 before fleeing the scene. No descriptions of the suspect are available. The investigation is ongoing.
