Bucks County man sent to prison for raping 15-year-old girl

DOYLESTOWN, PA – A Sellersville man has been sentenced to between 12 1/2 and 25 years in state prison for the rape of a 15-year-old girl in the parking lot of a Quakertown grocery store on Oct. 13, 2023.

Miguel Angel Sanchez, 33, pleaded guilty on May 20 to numerous counts of rape, sexual assault, involuntary sexual abuse, human trafficking and related offenses, acknowledging that the evidence against him was sufficient to convict him at trial.

Common Pleas Court Judge Stephen Corr called him “despicable” on Monday and sentenced Sanchez to prison and five years probation.

In addition, Sanchez has been classified as a sexually violent offender by the Sex Offender Assessment Board and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Both the victim and her mother gave powerful statements in court. The mother described Sanchez as “pure evil.”

“You are a despicable person,” Corr said. “I just can't get over the facts of this case.”

The investigation began on October 24 after Quakertown police received a report of a rape that occurred the previous night in the parking lot of the Giant at 1465 W. Broad Street.

The victim, a 15-year-old girl, told police that a man later identified as Sanchez raped her in his vehicle, which she described as a white four-door car.

The victim told police she had met Sanchez once before and they exchanged contact information over Snapchat. During Snapchat conversations, Sanchez asked the victim for videos of her being nude and/or having sex in exchange for money. Sanchez also communicated over Snapchat with a friend of the victim, a 16-year-old girl, and also asked her for sex videos in exchange for money.

Quakertown police were able to review surveillance video from the area and observed a white sedan in the Giant parking lot at the time of the rape. The vehicle was linked to Sanchez and his driver's license photo matched a photo found on the victim's phone.

The case was investigated by the Quakertown Borough Police Department under the direction of Detective Ryan Naugle and prosecution was assigned to Assistant District Attorney Brittney M. Kern.
