Man wanted for shooting and killing man in northeast DC

A 49-year-old man died in a nearby hospital a day after the shooting.

WASHINGTON – Police are asking the public for help in identifying a person wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in northeast Washington, D.C., after he was caught on surveillance camera.

On Saturday, just after 5:30 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a shooting on Minnesota Avenue. There, officers found a man who had been shot. He was not conscious or breathing at the time. DC Fire and EMS transported the man to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.

The victim was identified as 49-year-old Michael Simpson of Northeast, DC

Police did not provide any information about what led to the shooting or whether the victim and suspect knew each other.

The investigation into the fatal firearm use is still ongoing and ongoing.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a murder committed in the District of Columbia.
