Joey McGuire stars in viral video featuring Texas Tech cheerleaders

Texas Tech Head coach in football Joey McGuire goes viral after starring alongside the Red Raider cheerleaders in a preseason hype video. This clip was posted by cheerleader member Brenley Herrera on both X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok.

Although the post immediately caught the attention of college football fans, it has not yet been shared widely on the school's online channels. A controversial end to the 2023 season may have something to do with it!

Coastal Carolina traveled across the country to Honolulu to face San Jose State in a bowl game last December. While preparing for the postseason game, head coach Tim Beck was photographed on the beach with members of the Chanticleer dance team.

First, both the football and dance team accounts posted the picture, which shows Beck surrounded by the dancers in swimsuits. What could be more appropriate for a day at the seaside?!

Unfortunately, a few hours after the photo was published, negative reactions began to pour in, forcing Coastal Carolina to remove the photo from its timeline.

The Red Raiders may want to avoid a similar outcome!

The clip shows McGuire behind two cheerleaders who seem excited about the coming year.

Although it went viral with nearly 34,000 views on TikTok and 44,000 on X in 18 hours, Texas Tech's social teams are staying away.

Neither the cheerleaders nor the football team have posted the video on their official channels. While the harmless clip is an incredible way to build excitement for the upcoming season, the Red Raiders may not want to cause themselves any unnecessary trouble!

The athletic department will continue to watch from the sidelines as their head coach goes viral, while also posting pictures of McGuire in a more professional light on their own timelines.

Given the dramas of the past, you can't blame them!

Joey McGuire will lead the Red Raiders onto the field for the 2024 season in just a few days. Texas Tech will face Abilene Christian in the season opener on Saturday.
