Deadlock's new hero Astro drives enemies together

Valve's upcoming hero shooter Deadlock is gaining attention in the esports world, with famous gamers heaping praise on the game. Shroud calls it “probably the best third-person shooter I've ever played” and AverageJonas has announced his retirement from VALORANT to focus on Deadlock. Even Overwatch king Flats has featured it on his YouTube channel. As Deadlock's development nears completion, more and more information about its characters and gameplay mechanics is emerging. Today, Twitter is awash with leaks about Deadlock's possible new hero, Astro. Dive into everything we know about this mysterious new addition, including design, abilities, and more!

Astro is one of Deadlock's upcoming heroes. He is a Wild West-style gunslinger with an orange and brown color scheme. Astro wears a brown jacket with a fancy sheriff's badge, a studded belt with multiple holsters, an orange checkered scarf, and a beige cowboy hat with an orange bow. Astro's age and backstory are unknown. According to her ability description, she appears to be female. She has green eyes, auburn/brown hair, and freckles. For weapons, she carries a large shotgun, a barrel gun, and a smaller pistol.

We have no information on when Astro will be released in Deadlock. There is currently no set release date for Deadlock itself either. The game was not revealed to the public until August 23, 2024, after Valve lifted a strict secrecy policy. It's possible that Astro will be released alongside the base game of Deadlock. However, it's just as likely that she won't come to Deadlock until later after the initial release.

According to leaks from @IntelDeadlock on Twitter: Astro has four main abilities in Deadlock: an exploding barrel, a jumping pad, a hat toss, and a lasso. She can seamlessly combine several of her abilities to deal more damage when needed. For example, Astro can throw her barrel onto her jump pad to launch it through the air, or lasso an opponent while floating through the air.
