Plea deal in Trempealeau County murder case

TREMPEALEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – The man accused of killing Kyle Dahl in May made a confession today.

According to court documents, 62-year-old Todd Gieck of Melrose, Wisconsin, pleaded not guilty on August 26 to charges related to the killing of Kyle Dahl.

The courts concluded that there was sufficient evidence to continue the proceedings.

Bond is continued.

A status conference is planned for October 16.

Gieck is accused of killing Kyle Dahl on May 15.

According to the criminal complaint, on Wednesday, May 15, a deputy with the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to a report of a one-vehicle crash with injuries on U.S. Highway 53 near County Road TT in the town of Gale.

The officer found the victim with significant head injuries and bleeding. An object or piece of debris was lodged near his right eye.

An autopsy later revealed that the gunshot wound was the cause of death and ruled it a homicide.
