Danville man to appear in court Tuesday on drug charges | News

DANVILLE – A Danville man is scheduled to appear in Montour County District Court Tuesday on a drug charge.

Thomas Kurland, 47, was arraigned earlier this month by District Judge William Wilt on charges of felony manufacture and delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or delivery, as well as three misdemeanors.

Kurland is being held in the Montour County Jail on $20,000 bail.

On March 10, at approximately 7:30 p.m., state police were dispatched to speak with Kurland's brother about drugs and drug paraphernalia that the defendant allegedly left behind at his father's home.

According to court documents, Kurland's brother contacted police after finding large amounts of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a blue tote bag.

In the carrying bag, police found ten injection needles, a vacuum sealer and a roll of vacuum bags, mason jars containing marijuana, five glass smoking devices, a grinder, a roll of shrink wrap, two clear plastic containers containing marijuana and a glassine bag containing suspected methamphetamine.

According to police, the unofficial weight of the drugs was 600 grams of marijuana and one gram of methamphetamine.

Kurland is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday at 2:45 p.m.
