3 officers injured, several people arrested after kidnapping in Danbury: Police – NBC Connecticut

Three officers were injured and six people were arrested for their roles in an alleged kidnapping that took place in Danbury on Sunday evening.

According to Danbury Police, the incident occurred at 5:40 p.m. Officers were called to the area of ​​Clapboard Ridge Road near Dogwood Lane for a reported disturbance.

Officers responding to the call were told that three men got out of a van, attacked another man, pushed him into the van and took off.

Police said they spotted the van and tried to stop it, but the driver sped away.

The van was eventually located further down Cowperthwaite Street and officers found two people inside. Both people were bound with duct tape and one had been attacked with a baseball bat, police said.

Witnesses told officers that six men had fled. They were all found and taken into custody, police said.

Three police officers were injured during the search and arrest. The authorities said that all of their injuries were not life-threatening.

The six men, all from Florida, face charges including first-degree assault, kidnapping and reckless endangerment. Five of them are being held on $1 million bail.

The sixth suspect is also charged with reckless driving, police pursuit and evading responsibility. His bail is set at $2 million.

The police assume that the victims were deliberately attacked, but the motive is currently unclear.
