Two small planes crash in separate incidents in northeast Nebraska


Norfolk, Nebraska – Nebraska State Patrol officials are still on the scene where two small planes crashed in northeastern Nebraska Monday morning.

The Nebraska State Patrol is the lead investigation agency for the Knox County plane crash. The crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. today. The accident site is approximately 4 miles southwest of Crofton, Nebraska.

First responders, including police and Knox County Sheriff's officers, found the pilot, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft at the time of the crash. The deceased's name will be released after family is notified.

The second accident occurred a short time later near Wayne, Nebraska. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is the lead investigative agency in this incident. Details will be released by the Sheriff's Office as soon as possible.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted and will investigate both accidents. Police have deployed drones to monitor both accident scenes to assist with the investigation.
