Clearwater Threshers' new bat dog Lucy May makes viral debut – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WSVN) – A dog does the wrong tasks in his debut on the baseball field.

During a minor league game, the Clearwater Threshers introduced their new team dog, 10-month-old yellow Labrador Lucy May.

She was sent to get a bat, but instead ran across the field and into the visiting team's dugout.

Lucy May went back to the field, but finally stopped when Mother Nature called.

Team personnel again tried to persuade her to grab the bat, but to no avail as the dog continued to run across the field.

Despite her chaotic and unsuccessful debut, Lucy remains the team dog.
