Alamance County man charged with drug and firearm offenses in Burke County

Nicholas Scott Hefner, 26, of the city of Mebane in Alamance County, North Carolina, was arrested by Burke County Sheriff's officers last Thursday (August 22) on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a firearm as a felon and carrying a concealed weapon as a misdemeanor.

Hefner was arrested at 3:20 a.m. Thursday at a location on Edwards Street at the corner of McDuffy Road in Connelly Springs. According to police reports, Hefner was taken into custody without incident.

Hefner is a felon with multiple convictions since September 2017. Most of the cases are from Catawba County, one from Lincoln County. Hefner's most recent conviction was in September 2023 in Catawba County. He was convicted of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of stolen goods.

Following Thursday's arrest, Hefner was taken to the Burke County Jail on $25,000 bail. He is not listed as an inmate in Burke County. His next appearance in District Court is scheduled for Sept. 13.
