5 people arrested after brawl in Newport over the weekend

NEWPORT, Kentucky – Five people were arrested following a brawl in Newport Saturday night.

A video provided by Wintrr Rose shows what appears to be a large group fighting on W. 10th Street between Liberty and Central. At least ten people can be seen in the video.

Several people were screaming and fighting. Some of the people pictured used objects such as frying pans and mops.

One person can also be heard shouting at the group: “Get off my lawn!”

Commissioner: 5 people arrested after brawl in Newport at the weekend

At one point you can see flashing lights and a police car arriving, whereupon some of them flee.

City Commissioner Ken Rechtin said both adults and juveniles were involved.

Four people were charged with disturbing the peace and the fifth person was charged with assault.

Rechtin said the city plans to discuss ways to prevent future incidents.
