Caitlin Clark sprains her ankle in victory over Dream and avoids serious injury

ATLANTA – It looked bad at first, but Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark's ankle sprain didn't play a major role in the Fever's 84-79 win on Monday night.

In fact, she didn't like her reaction when she looked back on her injury. Clark fell to the floor after tangling with Atlanta's Nia Coffey at the free throw line in the 3rd minute of the first quarter. She writhed on the floor for a few minutes, her teammates surrounding her while the trainers came out.

“I watched the replay and I look really crippled,” Clark said, drawing laughs from teammate Kelsey Mitchell and coach Christie Sides. “It wasn't a bad sprain, but it hurt. Sometimes you just have to take a second. If you've sprained your ankle before, it just stings a little bit, so I was good.”
