Allegedly drunk man arrested after shooting in apartment complex

NORWICH, Connecticut (WLNE) – Norwich Police announced an arrest and charge was made in connection with a shooting incident at an apartment complex overnight.

The suspect, Brian Burgess, is currently in custody.

On Monday evening around 7 p.m., officers were called to the apartment complex because there were several reports of shootings inside and outside the complex.

When police arrived, they reported hearing six gunshots nearby and ordered shelters to be set up in the complex and surrounding homes.

Eventually, police managed to locate Brian Burgess and attempt to negotiate with him from the porch of his apartment.

According to police, Burgess then jumped off his porch and was later taken into custody without further problems.

According to police, no one was injured in the incident.

Burgess is being held on $150,000 bail and is facing charges of disturbing the peace, unlawful discharge of a weapon, reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm while intoxicated.

He is due to be arraigned at Norwich High Court later today.
