Fort Worth, Texas: Man arrested after shooting father and son

Cameron Cummins, 31, was arrested and charged with the murder of Fermin and Jacob Ramirez, according to a Fort Worth Police arrest warrant.

FORT WORTH, Texas – A man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly shooting a father and son outside their north Fort Worth home, according to an affidavit.

Fermin Lucio Ramirez and his son Jacob were found shot to death in their home at 2420 Ross Avenue at 1:51 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, police said.

An arrest warrant states that the shooting occurred after the two men repeatedly ordered another group of men to leave their house following a night of drinking, the affidavit states.

Cameron Cummins, 31, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony murder in connection with the shooting of Fermin and Jacob, police said.

The affidavit outlined how the shooting allegedly occurred.

Witnesses told investigators that Fermin and Jacob went to a bar with two longtime friends, whose names were redacted in the affidavit. One of the friends brought Cummins, whom police said Ramirez did not know. The group went to Fermin and Jacob's house and continued drinking in their front yard.

Around midnight, Fermin picked up a woman whose name was redacted in the document. She recognized a friend of Ramirez's who works with Cummins at a strip club, the affidavit states.

Cummins and other members of the group flirted with the unnamed woman “and spoke condescendingly to her, after which everyone agreed that the evening should end,” the press release said.

Fermin and Jacob repeatedly ordered Cummins and an unnamed individual to leave, but they refused. After Jacob again ordered Cummins to leave, he pulled a gun from his belt, walked up to the father and son and shot them.

According to the affidavit, a witness drove Cummins away from the scene before returning to speak with police.

Cummins “was asked to leave 2420 Ross on multiple occasions by several people, including the homeowners,” the affidavit states. “(He) refused to leave and was observed by several witnesses shooting Fermin and Jacob. The witnesses' statements are corroborated by surveillance video. (Cummins) aggressively pursued Fermin and Jacob, even though they clearly posed no threat to him.”

The Ramirez family told WFAA they intend to raise money for funeral expenses.
