Police identify firefighter killed in Richmond car crash

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) – A 20-year-old Henrico man died in a crash in Richmond over the weekend.

According to police, the accident occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday on North Laurel Street.

According to police, a motorcyclist named Joseph Altorelli, 20, of Glen Allen, Virginia, was traveling north on North Laurel Street when he collided with a turning vehicle at the intersection with West Grace Street.

Altorelli was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the limousine remained on site.

It is unclear whether charges will be filed.

According to Hanover County Fire-EMS, Altorelli was a volunteer firefighter.

He also worked in Fairfax.

The fired department says Altorelli dedicated his life to helping others.
