Man with drug warrant flees from police in Lycoming County

Michael Charles Devan was stopped by Williamsport police near the corner of West Fourth and Campbell Streets on August 20.

During a traffic stop, Devan learned that there was an arrest warrant out for him on drug charges, police said.

Devan accelerated and fled from police for more than a mile through residential areas of the city, traveling at speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour, police said.

Devan was eventually arrested in the 500 block of Lycoming Street without further incident.

In addition to the original drug warrant, Devan was arrested for evading arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, recklessly endangering another person, and similar offenses.

Devan was scheduled to appear before District Judge Aaron Biichle on Tuesday, Aug. 27, and was being held in the Lycoming County Jail on $75,000 bail, court records show.
