Jury deliberations continue in Robert Telles murder trial

Jurors are scheduled to return to court Tuesday morning to continue deliberations in the high-profile trial of a former Clark County official charged with the murder of a Las Vegas journalist.

Judge Michelle Leavitt sent the jury home on Monday after nearly four hours of deliberation in the case against Robert Telles. The jury is scheduled to return to the courtroom at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Telles is accused of killing Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German in 2022.

Prosecutors argued that Telles attacked German in revenge for a series of articles accusing him of creating a hostile work environment and having an inappropriate relationship with a female employee during his time as a county public administrator.

Telles and his defense countered that Telles was the victim of a conspiracy to frame him for the murder.

It is not possible to predict how long the discussions on Tuesday will last.
