Beaufort County Sheriff updates missing person case on Hilton Head Island

BEAUFORT, SC (WCSC) – The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office plans to release new information in the case of a 60-year-old Hilton Head Island man who has been missing since mid-August.

Sheriff PJ Tanner is scheduled to speak to reporters about Stanley Kotowski's case at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Stanley Kotowski, 60, was last seen around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 16 in the area of ​​South Sea Pines Drive, officials said.

The 60-year-old Hilton Head Island man was last seen on August 16 and had reportedly disappeared from his vacation home at the Sea Pines Resort.

Officers responded to a home in the resort on Monday morning, where they discovered the body of a man underneath the house. Investigators say the house where the body was found was near the apartment building where Kotowski and his family had lived.

According to WTOC, officials believe the body is that of Kotowski, but the Beaufort County Coroner's Office has not yet confirmed the man's identity.
