Trial begins for suspect in Trempealeau County driving aggression manslaughter | Crime & Courts

WHITEHALL, Wis. (WXOW) – The man charged with manslaughter for shooting an Ettrick man during an incident of aggression behind the wheel is due to appear in court.

Todd Gieck appeared for an evidentiary hearing in Trempealeau County District Court in Whitehall on Monday afternoon.

He is charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of Kyle Dahl on May 15.

The criminal complaint states that a person who was with Gieck that night stated the shooting occurred because Gieck was agitated by the victim driving slowly past where they were parked near Highway 53, just outside of Ettrick.

After Trempealeau County Sheriff's Investigator Michael Anderson testified about Gieck's connection to the shooting, Judge Thomas Clark concluded there was enough evidence to bring the charges to trial.

Gieck subsequently pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Judge Clark also continued Gieck's $1.5 million cash bail.

His next court date is scheduled for mid-October.
