Man arrested for knife attack on woman in Louisville

Marcelino Yande Fonseca Martinez, 35, was arrested on Monday and charged with murder.

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – A man was arrested Monday afternoon after being accused of stabbing a woman to death in Louisville.

Marcelino Yande Fonseca Martinez, 35, is charged with murder (domestic violence) in connection with a fatal stabbing in July in the Newburg neighborhood.

According to his arrest warrant, Martinez and the victim – who police said were in a relationship – were involved in a verbal argument during which the argument turned physical and Martinez stabbed the victim multiple times.

The woman was taken to UofL Hospital, where she died shortly after arrival.

Police said Martinez fled the scene, but investigators were able to identify him using Ring doorbell recordings and witness statements. He was arrested Monday afternoon.

Martinez is currently being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
