One dead in nighttime shooting in Beacon Hill, Seattle

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) is investigating a double shooting that left one person dead on Monday evening in Jose Rizal Park in the northern part of Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Shortly before midnight, a woman called police and told dispatchers that she had been shot in a car in the park. Police arrived at the scene and found her in a white Mercedes. She had multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics treated her on site and took her to Harborview Medical Center. Her condition is critical at the time of the report. A second woman who was riding in the Mercedes was unharmed in the shooting, the SPD confirmed.

Another person was found in the park with multiple gunshot wounds, but was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was removed by the King County Coroner.

The police secured the area with barrier tape.

The police are not sure whether it was an isolated incident or whether there are multiple suspects. The circumstances that led to the shooting are also unknown. Forensic investigators and homicide detectives were at the crime scene in the early hours of the morning to collect evidence.
