Sex offender sentenced to 14 years in prison

Below is a statement from the Vermilion County District Attorney's Office.

On August 22, 2024, Nathan Hendriex (born October 5, 1976), formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty at a contentious sentencing hearing to two counts of sexual assault, both of which are Class 1 felonies carrying a prison sentence of four to 15 years under the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The state asked for a total sentence of 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Judge Robert McIntire ultimately sentenced the defendant to a total sentence of 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, 85% of which must be served. After incarceration, Hendriex will serve a term of 3 years to life under supervised release.

At sentencing, the State presented evidence that Danville Police received a report of sexual abuse in September 2022. A criminal investigations investigator with the Danville Police Department, with assistance from the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center, conducted interviews and found that the defendant, Nathan Hendriex, was dating the minor victim's mother and had been living in the family home for some time. On the day of the assault, Hendriex lured the victim into a room, forced her to undress, and forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim.

The victim stated that Hendriex told them not to tell anyone about the assault. Hendriex was subsequently questioned and confessed to the assault in detail.

Prosecutor Jacqueline Lacy said: “I would like to commend the victim for her courage in disclosing the sexual assault by a trusted adult. The cruel abuse of trust by sexual predators is appalling. I hope that the sentence imposed in this case will give the victim time to begin her path to healing.”

District Attorney Lacy commends the Danville Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Vermilion County Child Advocacy Center for their diligence in investigating crimes against juveniles.
