Disneyland's Deadpool is already making jokes about the death in Wild Parks

If you've visited Disney California Adventure or, more likely, your TikTok algorithm spits out some Marvel Cinematic Universe videos, you've probably come across the fourth-wall-breaking attraction “Story Time With Deadpool.” Now the attraction is making headlines for Deadpool and Wolverine-inspired joke from the cast was a tongue-in-cheek reference to a recent wrongful death lawsuit filed against their parent company, while poking fun at Disney+'s terms and conditions.

In a TikTok video by user gothgirl_doesdisney, the attraction's Deadpool actor entertained the audience with the story of “Cinderpool.” During the dramatic story, Deadpool joked that Cinderpool was late because “he had to read every single page of the terms and conditions when he signed up for Disney+.” Wolverine's actor chimed in after nervous laughter from the audience, saying he didn't get the reference. Which in turn prompted Deadpool's Abbott and Costello-esque response: “They do.”

For those who don't know, Disney recently attempted to dismiss a “wrongful death” lawsuit filed against the company. According to CNN, plaintiff Jeffrey Piccolo filed the suit after his wife died at Disney Springs; she had gone into anaphylactic shock after dining at one of the resort's restaurants in 2019. Deadpool's joke about reading Disney+'s terms and conditions becomes clear when you consider that Disney claimed Piccolo couldn't sue because he signed up for a free Disney+ trial that same year. There was a clause in the Disney+ trial's terms and conditions that stated that any legal action against the company must be forced through arbitration. Simply put, there was fine print protecting the company from lawsuits.

Understandably, people online were outraged at the Mouse House's vicious legal approach to the death on its property. Last week, Disney made a U-turn when Disney Parks Chairman Josh D'Amaro released a statement announcing that the company was waiving its right to arbitration and letting the matter go to court.

That may be why the Deadpool actor thought the joke was fine. Still, viewers of Story Time with Deadpool seemed appalled that the attraction went so far as to reference it in an impromptu joke during a performance. io9 has reached out to a Disneyland representative for clarification or comment, and we will update this article if we receive a response.
