Mariah Carey's sister was in hospice before her death, friend says – 97.9 WRMF

On 26 August MariahCarey confirmed that her mother, Patriciaand her sister Alisonhad died the same day but gave no further details. Now we learn more about Alison's death.

In recent years, Alison, 63, lived in Greene County, New York, and her friend David Baker told the local newspaper, The Albany Times-Union, that she died of “organ dysfunction.” Baker said she was in hospice care.

“We knew it was coming,” Baker told the newspaper. “There were signs that she couldn't go on.” Baker also said that her children were able to spend time with her before Alison's death and that for some of them it was the first time they had seen her in years. “She was thrilled to see her,” Baker told the newspaper.

In 2015, the newspaper reports, Alison was hit in the head with a baseball bat during a burglary on Long Island, resulting in a brain injury and short-term memory loss. Over the years, she also struggled with homelessness and substance abuse, the newspaper said.

In 2020, Alison campaigned to restore her Social Security benefits after they were mistakenly cut from nearly $800 to $30 per month. Finally Thanks to the Senator's help, their benefits were restored in 2021. Chuck Schumer's office.

As previously reported, Alison also sued Mariah for $1.25 million for defamation in 2021 after Mariah claimed in her memoir that Alison drugged her in her youth, inflicted third-degree burns on her, and offered her as a “pimp.”
