Patrick Murdock, inmate at Marshall County Jail, has died

MARSHALL COUNTY, Alabama (WAFF) – An inmate at the Marshall County Jail has died, according to Sheriff Phil Sims.

Sims said 56-year-old Patrick Murdock of Guntersville was found unconscious in his cell late Sunday night.

Murdock was taken to Marshall Medical North, where he later died.

Sims said a preliminary investigation found Murdock died of natural causes.

The State Bureau of Investigation and the Marshall County Coroner's Office are continuing to investigate Murdock's death.

“It is our policy to request the SBI to investigate all in-custody deaths that occur at the jail,” Sims said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

Murdock was in jail for failure to appear. He was admitted to prison on August 2nd.
