Stockton Police Announce Arrests for Organized Retail Crime

Stockton police arrested two people on suspicion of organized shoplifting during a probation search earlier this month.

The San Joaquin County Auto Theft Task Force conducted a probation search in the 1000 block of Bear Creek Way on Aug. 19 and discovered a large amount of suspected stolen retail merchandise, Stockton police said in a news release.

The task force, which includes the CHP, Stockton and Manteca police, San Joaquin District Attorney's Office, San Joaquin Sheriff's Office, San Joaquin County Probation, and Manteca and Tracy police, obtained a search warrant and reportedly recovered an estimated $80,000 worth of stolen merchandise.

Authorities also seized a firearm, suspected narcotics, ammunition and cash valued at about $30,000, police said.

Nguyen-Lang51, was arrested and charged with organized retail crime while Thai Nguyen56, was also arrested on related charges and firearms offenses.
