Batesburg man allegedly attacked person for nine hours, Lexington officials say

LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) – A Batesburg man was arrested Friday after allegedly attempting to kill a person.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department (LCSD) said 29-year-old Jerry Hall Jr. was arrested and charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, third-degree assault, possession of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes.

Deputies said witnesses told them Hall assaulted a person at a home on Bayonet Road for nine hours. The LCSD arrived at the scene after a neighbor called 911.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a press release, “Investigators determined that Hall struck the victim, kicked him with his steel-toed boots, and blocked his airway until he lost consciousness.”

LCSD also said Hall threatened to kill witnesses after they entered the home.

Hall was found Friday in the 100 block of Buggy Road and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.

A justice of the peace denied his bail.
