Viral video shows the moment when visitors to an amusement park were stuck almost 76 meters above the ground

A group of thrill-seekers got more than they bargained for at a Mexican theme park earlier this month when they found themselves stranded on a blocked ride 250 feet in the air during a rainstorm.

Viral footage of the August 18 incident shows the Supergirl Sky Flight attraction at Six Flags Mexico theme park coming to a complete stop as a group of riders scream for help as wind and rain buffet them.

According to reports, the attraction was lowered back to the ground after about 10 minutes and no one was injured.

In a statement, Six Flags acknowledged a “temporary closure” of its attractions – including Supergirl Sky Flight – during the August 18 storm, noting that “all guests were safely evacuated” and that the attraction resumed operations later that same day.

“Unfortunately, the storm intensified during the evacuation, creating an unpleasant moment for our guests,” the statement continued. “The theme park staff took care of all guests and no incidents were reported.”

The Supergirl Sky Flight, also known as the SkyScreamer or Star Flyer, can be found in many amusement parks and traveling circles around the world.

Riders are lifted into the air in swing-like two-seater chairs attached to a rotating tower that offers a bird's eye view of the park below.

Despite its popularity, the attraction's height can make it vulnerable to bad weather. In 2018, a similar incident occurred at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, when riders on the park's SkyScreamer were left dangling above the ground during a storm.

“I was hysterical because I thought I was going to watch my son and my husband fall to their deaths,” one visitor later told the Philly Voice.
