Gilbert Delano Stone | Sanford man charged with murder in shooting at his home

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) – A Sanford man has been charged with murder after Lee County officials were called to a shooting scene.

Officers responded to a home on Blackberry Lane at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday morning.

When they arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Henry Dwayne Stone, 27.

Gilbert Delano Stone, 54, of Blackberry Lane, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Stone was taken to the Lee County Jail without bail.

The sheriff's office said although the two men involved have the same last name, it is unclear if they are related.

That investigation is still ongoing, Sheriff Brian Estes said.
